The petrochemical industry is one of the most critical and valuable applications for Decanter Centrifuge. 1. Crude Oil Pretreatment.
This is the most classic and important application of decanter centrifuges in refineries.
Purpose: To remove impurities from extracted crude oil. Crude oil typically contains water, inorganic salts, silt, catalyst particles, and other impurities. These impurities can corrode equipment, clog pipelines, and affect final product quality.
Process: Wash water is added to the crude oil, and the powerful centrifugal field of the centrifuge rapidly separates the oil, water, and solid particles.
Centrifuge Functions:
- Aqueous Phase Separation: Separates the injected wash water from the crude oil's primary water and discharges them.
- Solid Impurity Separation: Separates solid particles such as silt and salt crystals, resulting in a sludge discharge.
Advantages: Continuous operation, high processing volume, and efficiency far superior to traditional settling tanks.
2. Catalyst Recovery and Treatment
Catalysts are the heart of petrochemical reactions and are typically very expensive. Decanter centrifuges play two roles in the catalyst process.
- Catalyst Recovery and Recycling:
After many catalytic reactions, the product slurry contains fine catalyst particles. Decanter centrifuges efficiently separate these expensive catalyst solids from the liquid product and, after appropriate treatment, return them to the reactor for recycling. - Deoiling and Disposal of Spent Catalysts:
Deactivated spent catalysts often contain oil and heavy metals, making them hazardous waste and expensive to dispose of. Dehydrating and deoiling them with a decanter centrifuge before disposal can reduce waste volume.
3. Petrochemical Product Processing.
This is the most widely used area, encompassing a wide range of products:
Polyolefin Industry: Used for separating polymer particles from polymer slurries, meeting the requirements of large-scale production lines.
Polyvinyl Chloride: In suspension PVC production, it is used to remove large amounts of water from the slurry exiting the polymerization reactor, concentrating and dehydrating the PVC resin.
Purified Terephthalic Acid: PTA is a key raw material for polyester production. During the production process, centrifuges are used to separate PTA solids from mother liquor and to wash PTA crystals to remove impurities.
