The Vacuum Drum Filter can achieve rapid and thorough separation of solids and liquids in starch slurry under low pressure difference. The separation process is described in detail below.

Starch slurry is a mixture of starch particles suspended in water. In the vacuum drum filter, the inside of the drum is divided into multiple filter chambers. When the rotary drum starts to operate, the starch will be evenly distributed on the surface of the drum.

The vacuum system forms a negative pressure in the filter chamber. Under the action of the pressure difference, the liquid part of the starch slurry is pumped into the vacuum system through the filter medium, while the starch solid particles are retained on the surface of the drum, thereby achieving efficient solid-liquid separation.

As the filtration proceeds, the starch solid particles gradually accumulate on the surface of the drum to form a filter cake. The speed of the drum can be precisely adjusted according to the properties of the starch slurry and the filtration requirements. In the process of filter cake formation, the pore size of the filter medium plays a key role. The appropriate pore size can ensure the smooth passage of the liquid and effectively retain the starch particles.

When the filter cake reaches a certain thickness or the rotary drum completes a round of filtration, the filter cake can be scraped off the surface of the drum through the automatic unloading device. This automatic unloading method reduces manual operation and labor intensity.

The scraped filter cake can be directly dried in the next step or further processed as needed. Since the water content of the filter cake is relatively low, energy consumption can be saved in the subsequent drying process.

The filtration process of the vacuum drum filter is relatively gentle. Compared with traditional centrifugal filtration, it does not generate excessive mechanical forces, so it is less damaging to starch particles. Whether it is starch slurry made from corn, potato or cassava, the vacuum drum filter can effectively filter it. For different types of starch slurry, only the pore size of the filter medium and the speed of the drum need to be adjusted.
