How to Select a Suitable Centrifuge?

The user selects a suitable centrifuge according to the application and material properties achieve the desired purpose. There are three questions that have the following attention when selecting:

  • Anti-corrosion performance

    The material separated by the centrifuge is generally corrosive especially the part contacting the material to ensure better operation effect.

    Construction materials (304, 321, 316L, titanium plate), sealing ring, sealing pad, surface treatment measures (substant plastic, lining, surface coating), and filter cloth materials, etc. should be determined at selection . The properties of the material (chemical properties, temperature, etc. at the time of chemical properties, etc.) need to inform the manufacturer.
  • Explosion-proof performance

    In the material (or environment) treated by the centrifuge, such as a flammable and explosive substance containing an organic solvent, the centrifuge should have an explosion-proof requirement (grade). In fact, the centrifuge should achieve a variable explosion-proof, in terms of mechanical, electric control, accessories, etc., such as:

    Electronic control system: explosion-proof isolation gate, non-contact energy consumption brake system, electrostatic ground, explosion-proof automatic control.

    Mechanical system: explosion-proof motor, explosion-proof light, anti-collision measures, anti-static transmission belt.

    Explosion-proof attachment: nitrogen protection device, nitrogen online detection, field explosion-proof control button.

 

  • Separation performance

    Separation performance is a basic function, including separation, washing effect, processing ability, degree of automation, etc. At the beginning of the order, because of the difference in material properties, the viscosity of the material, the particle size, density, the solid-liquid ratio, etc. It is difficult to determine the effect of separation, generally using the separation factor of the centrifuge to measure the separation effect.

    The separation factor is related to the rotational speed of the drum and the diameter of the drum, and squared to the angular velocity of the drum.

    Ft = ωr2 / g: Ft is the separation factor is the drum angle speed r / sr is the drum diameter mmg is gravity acceleration.

    The washing mentioned here refers to the washing of the filter cake. For some materials, the filter cake needs to be washed by the washing liquid, and some even have a few times of washing to meet the requirements, which requires the washing tube. Washing effect, washing time and washing tube pore size, arrangement position, and structural forms have a great influence.

    The treatment capacity of the centrifuge is related to the physical and chemical properties and separation requirements of the material, typically estimate with the number of cycles and the filter cake weight of the single operation.
