Classification of Horizontal Decanter Centrifuge

The decanter centrifuge is a machine that can separate different groups in a solid-liquid two-phase or an immiscible liquid-liquid two-phase mixture. The density of materials and level of eccentric motion is different, so as to complete the separation of different materials.

Main functions 

• Complete the separation of the solid and liquid phases in the suspension.
• Complete the separation of the two liquids with different densities and immiscibility in the emulsion.
• Separate the liquid components in the wet solid.

Compared with other separate machine, the decanter centrifuge has the advantages of high working efficiency, small size, good sealing, and less subordinate equipment.
 
In most cases, decanter centrifuges are used as post-consumer disposal equipment and are commonly used in processes such as dehydration, concentration, separation, and clearance. 

There are many varieties of decanter centrifuges, which can be classified according to separation principle, operation purpose, operation method, construction method, separation factor, discharge method, etc.

• α<3000, mainly used for the dehydration of suspensions and materials with small separation particles. This decanter centrifuge has a lower speed and a larger diameter.
• 3000<α<50000, mainly used for separating milky and fine particle suspensions. This kind of decanter centrifuge has a higher speed, and the ordinary drum has a smaller diameter and a longer length.
• Ultra decanter centrifuge α>50000, mainly used to separate the ultra-fine particle suspension system and polymer colloidal suspension that are not easily separated. Due to the high speed (above 50000r/min), the drum is made into a slender tube type.

 
Classified according to the operating principle of decanter centrifuge:

1) Filter-type decanter centrifuge: This is a decanter centrifuge with holes on the drum wall to complete the filtration separation by centripetal force.
2) Sedimentation-type decanter centrifuge: This is a decanter centrifuge that has no holes on the drum wall and uses centripetal force to complete the sedimentation separation.
3) Separation type decanter centrifuge: This is a decanter centrifuge with no holes on the drum wall and extremely high speed, generally above 4000r/min and separation factor above 3000.
