How does Multimedia Filter Work?

JX Filtration Multimedia Filter consists of one or more standard high-speed filtering units that can effectively remove particles and reduce turbidity. If feeding with particular media, such as activated carbon, anthracite, etc., correspondingly, the filter can also absorb and remove the organics, ions, etc. 

Working principle

When the system is in filtering, the unfiltered water passes through the water distributor on the top of the filter, cooperates with the spherical shell, and flows through the packing layer in a advection state.

Multimedia Filter

When the water flows through the packing layer, the impurities are trapped in the packing layer, and the collector at the bottom of the filter uniformly collects and flows out the filtered water.

Advection filtration determines that the filter can still achieve a good filtration effect under high flow rate.

As impurities accumulate in the filler layer, the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet water will continue to increase.

When the pressure difference reaches a certain set limit or the filter time reaches the set value, the system will automatically enter the backwash state to clean the packing layer and remove the accumulated impurities. Frequent backwashing is necessary to remove accumulated impurities.

When the system is in backwashing, the on-off position of the three-way valve is changed through the control system (the inlet is closed, the sewage outlet is opened), and the filtered water in other filter units flows into the filter unit to be backwashed.

Due to the water pressure inside the system, the packing layer of the filter unit being backwashed is washed up under the impact of the water flow, and the impurities are discharged through the sewage outlet of the three-way sewage valve.

When the backwashing is over, the valve returns to the filtering state, and the next filter unit enters the backwashing state.

Generally, a system consists of multiple filter units, which are backwashed in sequence to ensure continuous flow during backwashing.
