Rotary Drum Screen: The filter medium is a porous stainless steel structure that is used to retain solid particles and penetrate liquid during filtration.

The Rotary Drum Screen is a precision machine that make use of gravity or pressure difference to pass the suspended matter through a certain porous medium, so that the solid particles are trapped, and the solid and liquid in the suspension are effectively separated.

Features

a. Porosity: When the pore size is suitable for liquid passing through and the resistance is small.
b. Chemical stability: Good corrosion and heat resistance.
c. Mechanical strength: Sufficient mechanical strength, pressure resistance, and impact resistance.

Working Principle

Wastewater flows into the hollow drum, and flows out from the filter screen to the outside due to gravity, and the suspended solids in the water are trapped inside the stainless steel filter screen. The drum rotates slowly. The backwash pump draws the filtered water to backwash the filter screen. The flushing water passes through the nozzle on the top of the dry drum to flush the filter from the outside to the inside of the filter. The washed particulate matter is collected by the backwash water collection tank and discharged from the equipment through the drain.

Advantages

  • Long service life: the filter screen can be used for up to 2 years.
  • Easy to replace the filter screen: independent mesh, which can be removed independently without affecting other filters.
  • Strong impact load resistance: the equipment can operate normally when the water inlet SS is not higher than 40mg/L.
  • The filter can automatic operate, backwash and filtration continuously.
  • Small head loss: The head loss is less than 30cm.
  • Good treatment effect: Inlet water quality SS is as low as 20mg/L, outlet water quality is as low as 10mg/L.
  • Small footprint: in the case of the same treatment water volume, the area of drum filter equipment is much smaller than other filters.
  • Small water consumption for flushing: impurities are not easy to accumulate on the filter screen, and the impurities can be easily removed by backwashing with high-pressure water. The water used is taken from filtered water, and the water consumption is 0.3% of the treated water, which is much lower than the water consumption of other similar filters by 3%-5%. 
  • Low requirements for foundation endurance and low investment. It is especially suitable for the upgrading and transformation of existing sewage treatment plants, which can update water quality from Grade B to Grade A.
