How does Decanter Centrifuge Work?

Decanter Centrifuge model selection is based on the following two main aspects:
Hydraulic load: the amount of feed material handled by the centrifuge per unit of time.
Solids load: the amount of absolute dry material processed by the centrifuge per unit of time.
When the feed concentration is high (more than 5%) the main consideration is the solid load; when the feed concentration is low (less than 5%) the main consideration is the hydraulic load.

Working principle

Through the high speed rotation of the rotary body-drum and the discharge screw, the mixture inside the drum rotates at high speed to form a liquid ring and generate high centrifugal force, which accelerates the settling and separation of solids and liquids by the action of high centrifugal force. The heavier solid particles settle on the outer circle of the liquid ring layer, i.e., along the inner wall of the drum to form a mud ring layer, and the solid phase is pushed out of the drum by the discharge screw through the differential speed between the discharge screw and the drum. The clear liquid ring overflows out of the drum through the weir opening.
