Bag Filter, as highly efficient solid-liquid separation devices, operate primarily by trapping solid particles or impurities in liquids through their filter media. Specifically, the working principle of bag filters can be summarized in the following steps:

1.  Preparation for Filtration.

The liquid to be filtered enters the bag filter inlet via piping. To ensure more effective filtration, the liquid should be evenly distributed before entering the filter.

2.  Filtration process.

Under pressure, the liquid flows from the inlet into the filter bags. These bags are constructed from porous, loosely woven filtration materials such as polypropylene, nylon, or polyester, with pore size determining filtration precision. As the liquid passes through the bags, particles larger than the pore size are trapped on the surface and within the filter media, forming a filter cake layer. Simultaneously, smaller particles may also be captured through mechanisms like Brownian motion and electrostatic adsorption. Clean liquid passes through the pores of the filter bag along the designed path and ultimately exits through the outlet at the bottom or side of the filter.

3. Differential Pressure Monitoring and Control.

As filtration continues, accumulated impurities on and within the filter bag increase filtration resistance, widening the inlet-outlet pressure differential. When this differential reaches a preset threshold, it typically signals the need for filter bag replacement or cleaning.

4. Filter Bag Replacement or Cleaning.

When the filter bag becomes saturated or the differential pressure becomes excessively high, replacement or cleaning is required.
