Vacuum Drum Filter consists of a filtering drum, distribution head, transmission system, stirring device, slurry tank, etc.

Vacuum drum filter has a horizontal drum with perforations on the drum wall. Support plates and filter cloth are laid on the drum surface, forming the filtration surface. The space below the filtration surface is divided into several separated fan-shaped filter chambers (usually 18), each filter chamber is connected with pipes and distribution valves. When the drum rotates once, each filter chamber is alternately connected to the vacuum system and the compressed air system through distribution valves, completing the sequence of filtration, cake washing, suction drying, discharging, and filter cloth regeneration. Throughout the entire filtration surface of the drum, the filtration zone occupies approximately 1/3 of the circumference, the cake washing and suction drying zone occupies 1/2, and the cake discharging zone occupies 1/6, with transitional sections between each zone. During filtration, the lower part of the drum is slowly immersed in the suspension. The filter chambers submerged in the suspension are connected to the vacuum system, and the filtrate is drawn out of the filter, while solid particles are adsorbed on the filter surface to form a filter cake. As the filter chambers rotate away from the suspension, they continue to suck out the liquid saturated in the filter cake. When it is necessary to remove the residual filtrate in the filter cake, washing water can be sprayed when the filter chamber rotates to the upper part of the drum. At this time, the filter chamber is connected to another vacuum system, and the washing water passes through the filter cake layer to displace the residual filtrate between the particles. The filtrate is drawn into the filter chamber, discharged separately, and then the dried filter cake is removed. At this time, the filter chamber is connected to the compressed air system, blowing back the filter cloth to loosen the filter cake, which is then scraped off by a scraper. Compressed air (or steam) continues to blow back the filter cloth to clear the pores and regenerate it. The outer wall of the drum is covered with a metal wire mesh (support plate), and the mesh is covered with filter cloth and other filtering media. The internal area of the drum is divided into 18 independent fan-shaped zones, each with different operating functions.
