What's the Meltblown Filter Cartridges?
Meltblown filter cartridges are deep-layer filter cartridges manufactured using a meltblown process, with polypropylene (PP) as their core material. Therefore, they are often called PP meltblown filter cartridges, and are the most common and classic type of "PP filter cartridge" you're interested in.

The manufacturing process is similar to making non-woven fabric: polypropylene particles are melted at high temperatures and then blown out through extremely fine nozzles under a high-speed hot airflow, forming ultra-fine fibers. These fibers are randomly and three-dimensionally wound and stacked on a porous central tube, thus forming a filter column with a gradient density structure.
1. Gradient Density/Progressive Structure:
This is the core advantage of meltblown filter cartridges. From the outside to the inside of the filter cartridge, the fiber density gradually increases, and the pore size gradually decreases. This design results in
- High dirt-holding capacity: Larger particles are trapped in the looser outer layer, while smaller particles are trapped in the denser inner layer. The entire filter body participates in interception, rather than just clogging the surface.
- Extended service life: Compared to surface filters (such as screens) of the same precision, it can hold more impurities and has a longer replacement cycle.
2. Deep Filtration:
Contaminants are trapped "inside" the filter material, not just on the surface. This provides higher filtration efficiency and greater dirt-holding capacity.
3. Material Properties (using PP as an example):
- Wide Chemical Compatibility: Resistant to various acids, alkalis, solvents, and organic chemicals.
- Bio-Inert: Non-toxic, odorless, and free of leachates, meeting food and pharmaceutical grade requirements.
- Hydrophilic/Hydrophobic Options: Standard PP is hydrophilic and can filter aqueous solutions; it can also be modified to be hydrophobic for gas filtration.
Meltblown filter cartridges are one of the most commonly used core filtration elements in "cartridge filters" and some "bag filters" (which can be used as alternative cartridge options). It is an economical and practical disposable deep filter cartridge that uses physical depth interception, has a gradient density structure, and is a mainstay for pre-filtration and clarification filtration of industrial fluids.
