What is the Working Process of Filter Press?

As a solid-liquid separation equipment, the Filter Press has a precise and coherent working process, which is divided into the following five stages:

I. Feeding stage
The material is pumped into the closed filter chamber, the filter cloth or filter plate in the filter chamber as a filter medium, to provide the necessary conditions for separation.

II. Pressing stage
As more material is pumped in, the pressure gradually increases. The chamber is designed to withstand a limited amount of high pressure, ensuring that the liquid passes smoothly through the filter cloth, while the solid particles form a cake that accumulates in the chamber.

III. Washing stage (optional)
In some applications, to improve product quality, the filter cake can be washed with a washing solution to remove residual impurities.

IV. Drying Stage
The water in the filter cake is further reduced by releasing the pressure in the legal filter chamber or by mechanical pressing to make it drier.

V. Discharge stage
Finally, the filter press is opened and the filter cake is removed automatically or manually to complete a separation cycle.

Generally speaking, the working principle of the filter press shows the clever application of pressure in the solid-liquid separation process, which not only improves the separation efficiency but also reduces the operation cost.
