What is self cleaning strainer? What are the types? How does it automatically work? 
 

The self cleaning strainer is the automatically mechanical device designed to achieve the fine particles and viscous solid filtration. Filter precision could reach 20-4000µm.

Basically, self cleaning strainer could be divided into below types:

  • Cleaning method: Scraper type / Brush type/ Sucking type/ Manual type
  • Drive method: Electric type/ Hydraulic type
  • Installation method: Horizontal/ Vertical

Users could choose the suitable model according to below parameters:

  • Flow capacity
  • Chemical properties of the filtering medium
  • Suspended solids (SS) content of the filter medium
  • Required filtration precision
  • Pipeline water pressure

The working principle of self cleaning strainer:

  • Filtration process:

The waste water or filter medium enters into the container through inlet. The impurities or solid will be trapped by the wedge wire filter element. Filtered cleaning water flow out directly. After running for a while, the impurities accumulated on the inner surface of filter element. The filter channel is blocked, and the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet gradually increases.

  • Cleaning process:

When the pressure difference reaches the preset value or preset time, the motor or high-pressure pump will drive the brush, scraper or sewage shaft with suction nozzle to rotate and horizontally move back and forth inside the filter. The cleaning process will continue about 2-100 seconds (could be set by user). Besides, the strainer will continue to filter during cleaning.

  • Discharging process:

After several times cleaning process, the sewage chamber collect more and more impurities. The discharge valve will open automatically to remove the high concentration waste liquid.
