Why Choose a Sludge Dewatering Screw Press?

Sludge Screw Press

A Sludge Dewatering Screw Press is a mechanical device widely used in sludge dewatering. It is a continuously operating device that uses a screw shaft and a combination of dynamic and static rings for solid-liquid separation.

The core function of a screw press is sludge dewatering.

It primarily processes excess sludge, concentrated sludge, or digested sludge generated during sewage treatment. Its goal is to reduce liquid or semi-fluid sludge with a high moisture content to a sludge cake with a lower moisture content (generally down to 75% to 85%, depending on the sludge characteristics), making it easier to transport, landfill, incinerate, or recycle.

The core structure of a sludge dewatering screw press is composed of dynamic and static rings and a screw shaft.

The dynamic and static rings are the core and most unique components of a sludge dewatering press. They consist of a set of fixed rings and a set of movable rings stacked crosswise to form a cylindrical filter body. The movable rings can oscillate slightly along the axial direction. The spiral shaft is a shaft with spiral blades that runs through the entire static and dynamic ring assembly. The outer diameter of the spiral blades is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the static and dynamic rings, creating a certain gap.

Comparison between a sludge dewatering press and other dewatering equipment:

Compared to belt filter presses, sludge dewatering press is more water-efficient (no extensive filter cloth washing is required), less prone to clogging (especially for sticky sludge), cleaner, and easier to maintain. However, its processing capacity may be slightly lower per unit, and the sludge cake moisture content may be slightly higher.

Compared to plate and frame filter presses, sludge dewatering press operates continuously, is highly automated, and is easier to operate. Plate and frame filter presses operate intermittently, require more manual operation, but generally have the lowest sludge cake moisture content.

Sludge dewatering press is a highly efficient, energy-saving, low-maintenance, and environmentally friendly continuous sludge dewatering device. Its unique structure of stacked static and dynamic rings and the squeezing action of the spiral shaft achieve sludge concentration and dewatering. It is particularly suitable for small and medium-sized sewage treatment plants and various industrial wastewater treatment applications, and is a key piece of equipment for sludge reduction. Its core advantages lie in continuous operation, resistance to clogging, low energy and water consumption, and excellent environmental adaptability.

Selecting a suitable screw-type sludge dewatering machine requires comprehensive consideration of multiple factors, including sludge characteristics, treatment requirements, operating environment, equipment performance, and supplier service.
