Stainless Steel - Diversity of SS304, 304L, 316, 316L
Stainless steel: resistant to weak corrosive media such as air, steam, water. The commonly used steel grades are 304, 304L, 316, 316L, which are 300 series steels of austenitic stainless steel.
SS304
It is the most common steel grade and widely used in various industries. It has good corrosion resistance, heat resistance performance and hot-workability such as stamping and bending without heat treatment hardening phenomenon (non-magnetic with operation temperature -196℃～800℃).
Application:
- Household products (category 1, 2 tableware, cabinets, indoor pipelines, water heaters, boilers, bathtubs)
- Auto parts (windshield wipers, mufflers, molded products)
- Medical equipment, building materials, chemistry, food industry, agriculture, ship parts.
SS304L ( L refers to low carbon)
As a low-carbon 304 steel, its corrosion resistance is similar to that of 304 steel under normal conditions, but after welding or stress relief, its has excellent intergranular corrosion resistance performance. It can also maintain good resistance without heat treatment (operating temperature -196℃～800℃).
Application:
- It is applied to outdoor machines in the chemical, coal, and petroleum industries that require high intergranular corrosion resistance, heat-resistant parts for building materials, and parts with difficult heat treatment.
SS316
Due to the addition of molybdenum, 316 stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance, atmospheric corrosion resistance and high temperature strength, and can be used under harsh conditions. It has excellent performance in further processing and hardening (non-magnetic).
Application:
- Equipment used in sea water, chemical, dye, paper, oxalic acid, fertilizer and other production equipment. Food industry, coastal facilities, ropes, CD rods, bolts, nuts.
SS316L ( L refers to low carbon)
As a low-carbon series of 316 steel, in addition to having the same characteristics as 316 steel, it has excellent intergranular corrosion resistance.
Application:
- Products with special requirements for intergranular corrosion resistance.
