10 Welding Methods - Wedge Wire Screen
- Shielded Metal Arc Welding
The basic welding method:
- Submerged Arc Welding
It is a welding method that uses electric arc as a heat source. Submerged arc welding has a large penetration depth, a good productivity and good welding quality. It is suitable for welding long welds of medium thick plate structures.
- Argon Arc Welding
Note: 1. Tungsten needles should be sharpened frequently. 2. Keep a proper distance between tungsten needle and weld. 3. Try to work under ventilated conditions, equipped with leather gloves, clothing, and auto-darkening mask.
- Oxygen Fuel Gas Welding (OFW)
It uses flame to heat and melt the metal and welding wire at the joint of the metal piece for welding.
Commonly used combustible gases are mainly acetylene, liquefied petroleum gas and hydrogen, etc., and the commonly used combustion-supporting gas is oxygen.
- Laser Beam Welding
Laser welding is an efficient and precise welding method that uses a high-energy-density laser beam as a heat source. Mainly used for welding thin-walled materials and low-speed welding.
- Carbon-dioxide Arc Welding
- Friction Welding
Friction welding refers to the method of welding by using the heat generated by the friction of the workpiece contact surface as the heat source to cause the workpiece to produce plastic deformation under pressure.
- Ultrasonic Welding ( USW)
Ultrasonic welding uses high-frequency vibration waves to be transmitted to the surfaces of two objects to be welded. Under pressure, the surfaces of the two objects are rubbed against each other to form a fusion between molecular layers.
The main components of an ultrasonic welding system include ultrasonic generator/transducer/horn/welding head triple group/mold and frame.
- Soldering (The welding heating temperature is lower than 450℃)
Soldering or Brazing is to use a metal material with a lower melting point than the base material as the brazing filler metal. The weld material and brazing filler metal are heated to higher than the melting point of the brazing filler metal but lower than weld material.
Use liquid solder to wet the weld material, fill the joint gap and mutually diffuse with the weld material to connect the weldment. It is suitable for welding precise, complex and components composed of different materials.
